Hellenic Bank (Cyprus)

Bank has been established based on the Bank of America capital in 1976. The main core of shareholders consists of large insurance companies, church organizations, banking staff, private persons and others Cyprian banks, while one owner holds at most 10% of shares.

Apart from traditional banking operations, the bank is involved in finance leasing, factoring, stock transactions, insurance, control and regulation of financial portfolios, bank investment, mutual funds, private banking operations and deposition.

Hellenic Bank was the first bank in Cyprus, which offered an e-service additionally in Russian and Greek, while launching Hellenic Net Banking system.

Incoming payments (SWIFT/SEPA):

1. Payments in EUR:

- within the Cyprus and SEPA (ЕU) zone: 

up to 1000 EUR – free of charge;

from 1000 EUR up to 10 000 EUR – 5 EUR;

from 10 000 EUR up to 50 000 EUR – 15 EUR;

more than 50 000 EUR – 40 EUR.

- outside the SEPA (ЕU) zone:

up to 1000 EUR – free of charge;

from 1000 EUR up to 10 000 EUR – 15 EUR;

from 10 000 EUR up to 50 000 EUR – 20 EUR;

more than 50 000 EUR – 40 EUR.

2. Payments in other currencies:

up to 1000 EUR – 5 EUR;

from 1000 EUR up to 10 000 EUR – 15 EUR;

from 10 000 EUR up to 50 000 EUR – 20 EUR;

more than 50 000 EUR – 40 EUR.

 

Outgoing payments:

1. Payments in USD:

- creating a payment – 25 USD;

- urgent payment (at the same day) – 0,05% from the sum (min 15 USD, max 70 USD);

- processing a payment – 0,15% from the sum (min 10 USD, max 300 USD);

- delivery of a payment at sender’s cost – 0,07% from the sum (min 10 USD, max 100 USD).

2. Payments in EUR:

- creating a payment:

up to 50 000 EUR – 0,15% from the sum (min 2 EUR, max 5 EUR);

from 50 000 EUR up to 800 000 EUR – 17 EUR.

- urgent payment (at the same day) – 0,05% from the sum (min 15 EUR, max 50 EUR);

- processing a payment – 0,15% from the sum (min 10 EUR, max 300 EUR);

- delivery of a payment at sender’s cost – 0,07% from the sum (min 7 EUR, max 65 EUR).

Terms of opening the account 

The procedure of account opening starts with the preliminary stage, which includes the process of gathering and providing documents, required for opening an account. Term of the preliminary stage will depend precisely on you.

The procedure of consideration the documents and reaching the decision by bank regarding opening an account takes approximately one month starting from in-person meeting with the bank’s manager.

Hellenic Bank follows the «know your client» principle and therefore you may be required to provide any additional information or documents concerning the procedure of opening the account that may take additional time. Bank also may refuse to open the account without any explanations.

Documents for opening an account

Forms for signing are provided by the bank representative while the in-person meeting.

 

Company’s documents – originals of all company’s statutory documents shall be provided.

In case from the date of the company’s incorporation more than one year, has passed it is required to provide:

- the Certificate of Good Standing affixed with apostille;

- the Certificate of Incumbency affixed with apostille;

- audited financial statements (it relates to all jurisdictions, incl. offshore). Term for statement preparation is determined by compliance authorities of the bank.

The bank does not accept power of attorney, some of the bank forms is signed by the director of the company.

It is required to provide concluded agreements to confirm the declared turnover on the account for companies that already carried out business activity. For companies that have not yet carried out activities – draft contracts, business contracts or business plans.

It is also required to confirm the substance of the company and its transactions. Additionally, the bank may request confirmation of the presence of an office and employees.

 

Documents for the account holder:

- original of national passport;

- original of foreign passport (in case of its presence);

- original of identification code (taxpayer number);

- curriculum vitae;

- original of bank reference;

- utility bill (for gas, electricity) from the place of residence no older than 3 months (to prove the place of residence).

 

Documents for the beneficiary:

- original of national passport;

- original of foreign passport (in case of its presence);

- original of identification code (taxpayer number);

- curriculum vitae;

- original of bank reference;

- utility bill (for gas, electricity) from the place of residence no older than 3 months (to prove the place of residence).

 

Documents for nominal director, shareholder and secretary (in case of using nominal service by company):

- set of documents affixed with apostille, which includes copies of: passport, utility bill no older than 3 months and bank reference (if nominal director, shareholder and secretary are natural persons);

- set of statutory documents affixed with apostille, which includes Certificate of Incorporation, Memorandum, Article of Association, Minutes of the director designation (if director is legal entity). Also may require Certificate of Good Standing affixed with apostille, Certificate of Incumbency affixed with apostille and documents on this director, which includes set of documents affixed with apostille: copy of passport, utility bill no older than 3 months and bank reference.

The procedure of opening an account

You need to fill in survey questionnaire, which is emailed on your address. After that, we will organize in-person meeting attorney/beneficiary with bank representative for signing the required bank’s forms and certifying documents on the company, attorney and beneficiary.
