A history of a Bank Gutmann starts in 1922 since its founding by Gutmann brothers. In 1957, Karl Kahane who is the biggest industrialist, entrepreneur and the richest person in Austria has entered into a partnership with the bank. In 1986, the bank determines its main specialization being the planning and management of client’s capital. The main policy of the bank is asset allocation within the framework of individual investment strategy formation in accordance with the specified by the client parameters of profitability, reliability and liquidity.

In 1997 the structure of the ownership of the bank changed – 80% of the bank’s shares belong to the Kahane family holding company when the remaining 20% are distributed among the bank’s managing partners. Partners of the Bank Gutmann are one of the most successful and wealthy bankers in Austria.

In 2005, the bank opened new branches in Budapest, Salzburg and Prague.

Types of bank accounts

Personal, corporate.

The accounts are not multicurrency ones. There is a requirement to open separate account for each currency.

The bank is focused on providing services on wealth management (trust management, investment consulting, self-management, private equity). The bank does not provide lending services, transactions on a daily basis, as well as custody of capital in cash (it is allowed up to 10%).

The cost of opening of the account (bank tariff)

For natural persons and legal entities – free of charge.

 

The bank opens accounts for any companies, incl. those that are registered in classic offshore jurisdictions.

As soon as the account has been accepted, you should compulsory specify the investment product. After that, the bank signs the relevant agreement with you and simultaneously opens an investment account. 500 000 EUR are to be transferred on this account, that is the minimum rate of investment.

Management of the account

All operational activities are being carried out through a manager of the bank, and there is an opportunity to view an account online.

Bank’s tariffs

Account maintenance for natural persons – 100 EUR/quarter.

Account maintenance for legal entities – 200 EUR/quarter.

Outgoing transfers:

- transfers in USD – 0,25% + 7 EUR;

- transfers in EUR – 0,20% + 7 EUR.

Terms of opening the account

The process of opening an account begin with the preliminary stage, which includes gathering and providing us with the documents needed for account opening. The term of preparatory stage depend on you.

The stage of review of the documents by bank and making a decision regarding opening an account takes from 5 to 10 business days since the documents have been delivered to the bank. The opening of the account itself takes place within 1 week from the moment of signing the banking forms and identification procedure in the head office of the bank in Vienna (Austria).

Bank Gutmann follows KYC policy and reserves the right to request additional information or documents what may lead to account opening term exceeding, as well as refusing of account opening without reasons explanation.

Forms for signing are provided at the head office of the bank during the personal meeting.

Company’s documents:

- Certificate of Incorporation under apostille*;

- Memorandum and Article of Association under apostille*;

- Minutes of the first director designation under apostille*;

- Certificate of Good Standing under apostille (upon request of the bank);

- Certificate of Incumbency under apostille (upon request of the bank).

 

*These documents may be apostilled in one set.

Documents for the account holder: 

- original of national passport;

- original of foreign passport; 

- original of identification code (taxpayer number).

Documents for the beneficiary:

- original of national passport;

- original of foreign passport;

- original of identification code (taxpayer number);

- CV;

- original of bank reference;

- documents verifying the source of income (wealth) of the beneficial owner. These could be the following:

letter of employment verification;

tax declarations;

documents confirming the receipt of the inheritance;

documents confirming the receipt of the funds as a gift, as well as its availability on the accounts;

documents confirming the sale of the real/movable property;

if the beneficial owner is a founder of the company – documents on that company, statements from the corporate accounts, tax returns, documents verifying the dividend distribution;

if the beneficiary owner is a private entrepreneur – extract from the registry, tax declarations on entrepreneur, statements from the bank accounts;

bank reference letter confirming the deposit in the bank, as well as the documents confirming the source of these funds;

other documents, reflecting the sources of income.

 

Documents on nominees – individuals: 

- copy of passport (the bank may request to make a notarial certification or apostille on this copy).

Documents on nominees – legal entities:  

- copies of all statutory documents under apostille;

- Certificate of Good Standing under apostille (upon request of the bank);

- Certificate of Incumbency under apostille (upon request of the bank).

The procedure of opening an acount

You should visit our office in order to fill in the questionnaire, to make the preliminary check of the documents as of company, attorney (account holder) and beneficiary. If the bank's decision to open an account is positive, a personal visit of the account holder and beneficiary to the bank’s main office in Vienna (Austria) is required.
